Day 27: Spalding Chlorinator Station to Marble Hill Road

Sunday 4th May 2014:

Meeting the bus and loading up on a beautiful clear morning.

The morning briefing at the start point.

Jim Dunning was awarded Morris Minus for notoriously forgetting his waterbottle.

Then it was off to walk beside lots of channels.

Dean's flag - Never, ever give up.

Ruins in an attractive setting, photographed inside and outside the gate.

A special moment for Carol Clark as she completes the trail at this point on today's walk.

Morris Minus gets a check up.

More channel walking.

Lunch at Spalding included a reminder from Dean about walking as a group.

Over the bridge.

No channel here, so follow the fence.......

until you find another channel.

This is the dangerous spot by a bridge, where a walker fell through an eroded area into the creek.  That part of the bridge has been fenced off and filled with concrete.

A few more nails might have been used on this section to render the whole bridge safe.

This view from the opposite end of the bridge, shows how far the unlucky walker fell down the bank into the creek.

We all crossed safely and continued walking the channel.

The flies were still around as seen on Mary.

The spray applied by this farmer was being blown over the road directly on to our group.

Over the pipelines....

and up the road to the cars to complete the day.  We walked 25.5 km today.

The sun peeked through the clouds to highlight this trail marker in a beautiful setting at the end of the walk.
